National Guard Armory

Background

A comprehensive building design and construction of a new vehicle maintenance building and an expansion of the Union City Armory for the 913th Engineering Co. of the Tennessee National Guard Armory located in Union City, Tennessee. The project consisted of the expansion and renovation of the existing armory building to include new training classrooms, a new kitchen and a weapons storage area.

Also, a new vehicle maintenance stand-alone facility was constructed on an expanded parking area. The building included four vehicle work bays with two vehicle lifts, a vehicle exhaust evacuation system, a tool storage and an office for the shop manager. Special attention was required for site conditions. The existing building site was only inches above the flood plan and poor soil stability required mitigation prior to construction. All issues were resolved without additional cost.
